Our Itinerary

Day 1 - 3/14 - Arrive in Guatemala City by 2pm and transfer to Antigua together. We will have dinner together after dropping our luggage at our hotel and wander the cobblestone streets.

Day 2 - 3/15 - Today is all about cultural education. We will spend the morning learning traditional backstrap weaving techniques and making our own bracelets. Next we will tour the market to buy ingredients for our traditional cooking class where we will learn to cook a few Guatemalan dishes.

Day 3 - 3/16 - We will head over to our hiking guide’s headquarters for breakfast and prepare for our hike up Acatenango. We will leave our luggage with our tour company while we out on our big adventure. We will spend the day hiking up to Acatenango base camp where we will spend the night. Don’t stress, I will share AAALLLLLLL the details about the logistics of this hike with you well before we are in Guatemala.

Day 4 - 3/17 - We will wake up well before sunrise to hike up to the summit of Acatenango to watch the sunrise from the summit around 13,000 ft. After breakfast at base camp, we will hike back down and back to the headquarters to swap our borrowed gear for our luggage and get our van to transfer to Panajachel and Lake Atitlan.

Day 5 - 3/18 - we will spend the day boating around Lake Atitlan to explore the cute towns along the shores and soaking in the views from our hotel on the lake.

Day 6 - 3/19 - We will visit the largest traditional open air market in Central America in Chichicastanango. We will make a stop on the way at San Juan la Laguna to visit ceremonial caves that have been used by Mayans for 3000 years. We will enjoy dinner around Panajachel.

Day 7 - 3/20 - In the morning we will transfer back to Antigua to explore the city more. Take a class about chocolate, wander the halls the National Museum of Art, visit a former monetary or churches or simply rest in the hotel, the afternoon is yours.

Day 8 - 3/21 - We will transfer back to Guatemala City airport from Antigua early in the morning and fly to our respective homes dreaming about our time together in Guatemala and our next adventure

Who is this trip for?

Women 21+ who have a sense of adventure and who want to connect with themselves and meet other adventurous women! If you need a break, a trip completely managed by someone else where all you have to do is just show up, I have you covered. Do you want to develop a bond with women who started out as strangers? This trip is for you!

How do we meet up in Guatemala?

F;y into Guatemala City Airpot (GUA) Please make sure land in Guatemala City by 2pm on March 14th and out of Guatemala City on March 21st no earlier than 10am

Is Guatemala Safe?

We will be traveling to very touristy areas as a group and will either be with guides or back at our hotel early morning and late at night. It is advisable to leave valuable or flashy items at home and be aware of your surroundings.

Do I need a visa?

US citizens do not need a visa to enter Guatemala. Your passport should be valid for 6 months beyond the end of this trip and have at least one blank page. If you are

Do I need to be in great shape?

This trip is primarily a cultural sightseeing trip with one big hike up and down Volcano Acatenango. The hike is a challenging 8.5 mile round trip hike with 5000 feet of vertical gain with an optional additional hike to the saddle of Volcano Fuego. We will have lots of prescribed breaks with opportunities to buy snacks from local vendors . While it is achievable to many people who have no experience hiking, you will enjoy your time more and be safer if you do some training in advance.

What if I sign up now and can’t come?

Things happen all the time, I get it. While I can not offer immediate refunds or cancelations, I will make every effort to resell your spot on the trip and refund you as soon as the spot is filled by someone else. If unforeseen circumstances arise and the trip needs to be canceled, I will issue refunds or reschedule the trip for a later date. Travel insurance is required and can be used to claim refunds

Do I have to pay all at once?

Nope! All that is necessary to secure your spot is a $500 deposit. The balance will be due by February 1st, 2026. You are welcome to pay the balance in installments or all at once.

Do I need to book with a friend or can I come by myself?

Book with a friend or book alone, either way the most important thing is to show up as you are! One of the awesome benefits to joining a group trip like this is the opportunity to make new friends. You are welcome to book with a friend if you the stars align and you both want in on this trip but it isn’t necessary. If you and a friend or two want to book together that is excellent. Let me know so you can room together.

I can’t make this trip, when is the next one?

I am working on it! I would love to host a handful of trips a year for adventurous women and I am actively plotting new ones all the time. The half pay option remaining balance of $1199.50 is due by February 1st, 2026. If you pay $500 deposit, the $1699 remaining balance is due February 1st, 2026.

All rooms are shared rooms with your own bed. If you are booking with a friend, you can certainly room together.
